I had been looking for a pocketbook/rolling backpack combination that I could use for travel to work everyday. I take a bus to work and have a long walk from the bus stop to my office, and although I use a rolling backpack to carry my lunch, books, etc., I wanted to be able to eliminate the stress on my shoulders and back of carrying a heavy pocketbook -- I was having no luck finding what I was looking for until I saw this Daypack/Backpack combination and decided to give it a try. The rolling backpack is very high quality, it rolls quietly, is light, and the telescoping handle is tall enough that I have complete control of the backpack. The detachable Daypack/organizer works GREAT as a pocketbook/purse! I just leave it attached to the backpack while commuting and remove it when I go out at lunch! It's extremely comfortable, much more so than a having a heavy bag on my shoulder. I really love the CD/mp3 port -- I use it for my Palm Pilot when I listen to music on my walks and on the bus! This is EXACTLY what I was looking for and I'm really glad I bought it!! In addition, the daypack has a strap across the back that slides over the handle of the backpack, in case you're in a hurry and don't have time to zip it back on. Its really perfect -- can't praise this item highly enough!!
Also - the price here at Amazon was really GREAT -- it was the lowest price I found anywhere plus they offer FREE SHIPPING! They shipped it immediately == I ordered it on Sunday and had it by Tuesday! |

| We traveled for 3 weeks in Vietnam. We had no problems whatsoever with these Sierra packs. Easy for planes and they would roll or be carried as the situation demanded. Highly recommended. |

| I got one of these as a gift about 2 years ago, and I absolutle love it. It is amazing how much fits in this little thing. It has so many expandable compartments that everything I need has a place. I loaned it to my daughter to go to Europe and she traveled with just this during 4 months, going to over 10 countries. It was great since she could roll, put on back or carry depending on where she was-trains, planes, buses, etc. She returned it to me and it's still in perfect condition, considering all the abuse it must have taken. I have used it in over 10 trips of my own, and needed nothing else, holds all you'd need for 2 weeks-easily. It rolls very well, does not tumble over, and is very sturdy. The removable daypack is great when you fly since you just take that off, put the bottom on the overhead compartment and the day pack in front of you. I just ordered a second one, different color, for my husband. We are going to Japan for 2 weeks, and each of us is taking just this bag. It is without a doubt the most versatile and sturdy bag I own, and the best gift ever. I recommend it highly. |
Nice Carry-on, but not 22

This bag is not 22"!!
When I received this bag, I could see it was no where near the size of my old one. I double checked on the High Sierra Website, [...], and found that this model AT105 is listed as: Size: 19.0" x 13.0" x 8.00" Capacity: 2541 cubic inches. Amazon got this wrong, they list this as 22"x8"x13.
Nothing wrong with the bag, good quality, just too small for me.
Amazon is great though, they allowed a return, gave me a refund, and even paid the return postage!
If like me, you're looking for a larger carry-on, read on...
I have a 22" High Sierra wheeled carry-on that has been around the world with me, and I love it! Tough, plenty of room, pockets, etc, and is the largest size allowed by most airlines as a carry-on. I wanted to get my wife one like mine for an upcoming trip.
I just found Amazon selling the bag I was looking for, it's now called the High Sierra Sports, AT3 Sierra-Lite 3-in-1 Wheeled Backpack. This bag is a mirror of my old bag. 3" longer than the AT105, a little deeper, and two lbs heavier, 600ci larger overall. About $[...] more, but well worth it if you want a larger bag. It measures: 22.0" x 13.5" x 9.00" Capacity: 3165 cubic inches and works great as a carry-on. You can pull it along, carry it by it's handle, or wear it as a back back. The smaller day pack zips off. so once you get to your destination, you can use it while exploring. Unlike the AT105, the handle in this bag retracts all the way down, flush with the top of the bag, so there is nothing sticking up that will catch on anything, more pockets too. My old bag has been on at least a dozen overseas trips since I bought it without one single problem. All in all, I would give this bag 20 stars if I could!

High Sierra Wheeled Carry-On Backpack with Removable Day Pack.
I was looking for a bag with wheels that did not jut out from the sides and something i can sling on my shoulders to free my hands when I needed and one i could wheel if it was too heavy. This bag had it all!
This is great, because the wheels are within the frame of the bag and not outside, so wont get caught when wheeling around corners and is easier to slip into the overhead cabin in an airplane.
And a lot of the bags I found at the stores had the shoulder straps dangling and dragging along the floor when you wheeled the bag, but this bag has a special zipper compartment that will protect the shoulder straps when you are wheeling the bag. When you are using the shoulder straps you can fold the cover away and attach it to the velcro at the bottom. Very well thought out design.
Another common design flaw on some other bags is that the wheeler handle doesn't go down all the way and this can get in the way or even hit your head if you are walking with the bag on your shoulders. This bags handle goes down far enough not to get in the way.
Many pockets and ideal for traveling and helps keep things organized.
I haven't taken the bag anywhere yet so i can't vouch for durability but I am very satisfied with the design and the size. It's bigger then most of the backpacks in stores but not too big that it will break your back. Big enough to fit in the essentials. |
